I managed to pull off to the side of the road just in time, and with rain pouring down took my baby girl out of the back seat and carried her up the embankment to safety. There I stood with no cell-phone and no umbrella, when a man pulled over and came up the hill with both. As I used his phone, he held the umbrella over my daughter and I, and continued to do so until help came more than half an hour later. In my anxiety over the situation I didn't remember to ask his name, but I have never forgotten his completely unselfish, anonymous kindness. - S.
